“Don’t give me that old one, I want the new one”
“Don’t give me that.” ＝ “Don’t give me that jazz.”は、直訳すると「そんなたわごとを私に与えないでくれ」という意味ですが、そこから、「とぼけないで」、「そんなこと信じられない」、「くだらない話をするな」とか「嘘をつくな」などという意味になります。
相手が明らかに嘘だと分かるような言い訳をしたときなどに「そんな言い訳はよして」または「とぼけないで」という感じで用いられる表現です。
“jazz”「たわごと、嘘っぱち」という単語を、“crap”や“shit”「糞；たわごと」などの下品な言葉に言い換えることも結構あります。
“Ah, this isn’t what it looks like.”
「えーと、これはそういうことじゃないんだ」
“Don’t give me that.”
「とぼけないで。」
