“When will it be ready?”
“When will it be ～ ?”で、「いつ～になりますか？」という意味ですが。“be ready”は、「準備ができている、用意ができている」という意味から、「～ができあがる、～が仕上がる」という意味でも使えます。
“When will it be ready?”で、「いつできあがりますか？」、「いつ仕上がりますか？」または「いつ納品されますか？」という意味になります。
クリーニングや写真の現像を頼んだときなど、“When will it be ready?”「いつ仕上がりますか？」という表現はよく使われますよね。商品の納品日を尋ねる場合に、「納品」という言葉が分からなくても、“When will it be ready?”「いつできあがりますか？」と尋ねれば、「いつ納品されますか？」と同様の意味です。
複数のものの場合には、“When will they be ready?”となります。
“When will it be ready?”
「いつ仕上がりますか？」
“It’ll be ready by Friday afternoon.”
「金曜日の午後までにはできています」
