“It’s not funny, don’t be ridiculous”
“ridiculous”は、「ばけげた；とんでもない；おかしな」という意味の形容詞です。
“Don’t be ridiculous.”と言うと、「ばかなこと言わないで」「冗談はやめて」「ふざけないで」などという意味です。
相手が何か途方もないことを言い出した場合に用いられる表現です。
また、この“ridiculous”という単語を用いた表現で、“That’s ridiculous.”「そんなばかな」「ばかげてるよ」という表現も使えます。
“I don’t want to go to college. I want to be an actress.”
「大学には行きたくない。女優になりたいの。」
“Oh, don’t be ridiculous.”
「もう、ばかなこと言わないで。」
