“It’s too good to be true. You’re up to something.”
＜too + 形容詞 / 副詞 + to 不定詞＞とすると、「あまりに・・・なので～できない」、「～するには・・・すぎる」とか「～できないほど・・・だ」という意味になりますが、“It’s too good to be true.”を直訳すると、「あまりに良すぎるので本当ではありえない」とか「本当であるには良すぎる」という意味になりますが、そこから、「まるで夢みたい」とか「話がうますぎる」という意味になるわけです。
「こんなに良いことが本当にあるとは信じられない」という場合に用いられる表現ですが、“It’s too good to be true.”を省略して、“Too good to be true.”と言うこともありますね。
“It’s too good to be true. You’re up to something.”
