“Just leave it, let’s wait and see.“
“wait and see”という表現を直訳すると、「待って、見る」という意味になりますが、表現には、ほぼ直訳の意味のとおり「待って成り行きを見る」という意味があります。
つまり、「成り行きを見守る」とか「様子を見る」という意味ですので、“Let’s wait and see.”と言うと、「成り行きを見守ろう」とか「様子を見てみよう」という意味になります。
“Should we buy a house now?”
「今、家を買うべきかしら？」
“Let’s wait and see.”
「様子を見てみよう」
