“Mark my words., but there is something wrong with this picture!”
“mark”には、「～に印をつける」という意味のほかに、「～に注意を払う；～に注目する」という意味がありますが、“Mark my words.”を直訳すると、
「私の言葉に注意を払って」という意味になり、そこから、「私の言ったことを覚えておいて」または「私の言うことを注意して聞いておいて」などという意味です。
「私の言ったとおりになるから、見ていてごらん」という感じで、相手に対して、警告・予言などをする場合に用いられる表現ですが。「信じて」とか「本当だよ」などという意味で用いられる場合もありますね。
“Mark my words. That boy’s going to cause trouble.”
「私の言うことを注意して聞いておいて。あの少年は面倒を引き起こすよ」
