“save the day”には、「急場を救う」「（間一髪のところで）危急を救う」「窮地を脱する」「土壇場で勝利・成功・解決をもたらす」などの意味ですが、“You saved the day.”は、「あなたが窮地を救った」とか
「あなたが急場を救った」というところから、「おかげで助かりました」または「今日は助かりました」という意味です。
類似の表現として、“I owe you one.”「恩に着るよ」、“I’m in your debt.”「恩に着ます」とか“I’m indebted to you.”「恩に着ます」などという表現もありますね。
