“That’s not right, you’ve got the wrong idea”
“have got the wrong idea”で、「間違った考え方をしている」という意味ですが、“You’ve got the wrong idea.”を直訳すると、「あなたは間違った考え方をしている」という意味になり、そこから、「誤解しているよ」、「勘違いしているよ」または「思い違いをしているよ」などという意味です。
同様の意味合いで、人の言うことを誤解している場合には、“You’ve got me wrong.”物事を誤解している場合には、“You’ve got it wrong.”と言うことも結構使えます。以前に“Don’t get me wrong.”「誤解しないで」という表現を学習しましたが、“Don’t get the wrong idea.”と言っても、同じような意味合いも使えます。
“You’ve got the wrong idea. He’s my older brother.”
「あなたは誤解しているわ。あれは私の兄よ」
